Peter V. Dugan is the 2017-2019 Poet Laureate of Nassau County N.Y.
As Laureate Peter, in conjunction with the Suffolk County Poet Laureate, developed and implemented the successful co-county Poet Mentor-Youth Mentee Program.
Peter is a board member of the Long Island Poetry & Literature Repository.
He is the co-coordinator of the independent publisher Words With Wing Press.
He is the publisher of Poetry: It’s a ‘Shore’ Thing! In an Unsure World.
Peter is widely known for his work as editor and formatter for various Long Island anthology works, including, but not limited to: 2014 Writing Outside the Lines Poetry Anthology, Wyld Syde Press; 2023 LI Sounds Poetry Anthology, The North Sea Poetry Scene Press; What Have You Lost And Found; 2015-2022 Nassau County Poet Laureate Society Review; and various other professional poets’ projects.
As Emeritus he is the current host Celebrate Poetry and It’s Poetry Baby! at the Oceanside Library and the Co-host of Poetry: It’s a ‘Shore’ Thing! at the Long Beach Public Library.
As curator of an online Group, Long Island Poetry Listings, Peter posts upcoming events for anything poetry.
He hosted, under the Performance Poets Association banner, several open mics including the beloved Sip This in Valley Stream; Starbucks in Long Beach; and The Wild Child Tattoo Parlor in Freeport N.Y.
Peter is a 2016 2X Pushcart Poetry Nominee.

Peter is a member of the Poetry: It’s a ‘Shore’ Thing! poetry festival committee at the Long Beach Public Library.
He was the co-assistant director of THE WORD- A Festival of the Spoken and Written Word: Celebrating All Voices.
He is currently a facilitator for the ACOUSTIC POETS NETWORK™ Visitation Project.
Peter is also an advisor to the Poet Outloud program, Nassau County Poet Laureate Society, and is the Nassau County Coordinator for the North Sea Poetry Scene.
